Otterbein recognizes student achievement through a variety of scholarships, talent awards and participation awards.
The Otterbein application for admission is also the application for consideration for Otterbein scholarships. The completed application, including additional materials submitted as part of the application, such as the student’s high school or college transcript(s), ACT or SAT scores, and recommendations may be used in scholarship decisions. Some scholarships also require submission of the FAFSA, or interviews, portfolio reviews, auditions and/or participation in additional activities. Unless otherwise noted, Otterbein scholarships are renewable for up to eight semesters or first undergraduate degree, whichever comes first. 2.75 Otterbein GPA required for renewal.

Test Optional Admission and Scholarships Policy
Tải game bắn cá ăn xuDue to Covid-19 disruptions to the availability of ACT and SAT tests, Otterbein has adopted a test optional admission and scholarship policy for Spring, Summer and Fall terms 2021. Students with high school GPA of 2.75 or lower are encouraged to submit a test score if available. Some academic programs or courses may require an ACT/ SAT score, placement score or additional pre-requisite courses for enrollment.

Scholarships Awarded at the Time of Admission
The following scholarships are awarded during the admission review process. Students cannot retroactively request consideration for these awards.
Merit Scholarships:

President’s Scholarship starts at $15,500 – almost half tuition!
Typically awarded to students with a high school GPA > 3.75, or students with a HS GPA >3.5 and/or are in the top 15% of their class, and have an ACT composite of 24 or higher (SAT 1180 EBW & M). Four year value $62,000.
Provost’s Scholarship starts at $11,000 – one third tuition!
Typically awarded to students with a high school GPA > 3.2, or students with a HS GPA > 2.95 and/or are in the top 40%of their class, and have an ACT composite of 21 or higher (SAT 1080 EBW & M). Four year value $44,000.
Alumni Scholarship starts at $8,000 – almost one quarter tuition!
Typically awarded to students with a high school GPA >2.75, or students with a HS GPA <2.75, and an ACT composite of 18 or higher (SAT 970 EBW & M). Four year value $32,000.

Ammons Thomas Award $2,000 to $5,000
Offered to multicultural students who exhibit both strong scholarship and leadership. Consideration for this award is based on student’s overall application for admission.
Cardinal Science Scholars (STEM) Program $4,500 to $10,000
The Cardinal Science Scholars scholarship is awarded for full-time study in one of Otterbein’s STEM programs for four years as long as all academic and participation requirements are fulfilled. Visit our STEM Scholarship page for more information.
Choose Ohio First Scholarship in Computer Science
Awarded to Ohio residents who attend Otterbein with a declared major in either the Computer Science B.S. or B.A. programs. The scholarship is awarded based on financial need with a preference given to students who are underrepresented in computer science based on gender, ethnicity, income level, or school district. Legacy Award $1,000
Offered to new First Year students whose parent or grandparent is an Otterbein Alumna/Alumnus.
Sibling Award $1,000
Offered when two or more siblings are enrolled concurrently.
Scouting Achievement Scholarship* $15,000
Awarded to Scouts who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout or the Girl Scouts Gold Award. Must apply by December 15. Replaces other Otterbein merit aid, except when value of other award is higher (students receives higher value award). Four year value $60,000.
Otterbein Honoring Service Scholarship $19,000
Awarded to recipients of Folds of Honor award or the Ohio War Orphans Scholarship. Value of this award replaces other Otterbein merit aid. Four year value $76,000.
Otterbein Advantage Partnership Scholarship $19,000
Awarded to new first year or transfer students at time of admission in lieu of other merit awards for students under the age of 23 whose parent or guardian is a qualified employee of one of the following Advantage Partners: Columbus City Schools, Central Ohio Transit Authority, Franklin County, Ohio, g2o, or OhioHealth.
Awards Requiring Additional Evaluation
Opportunity Scholarship
This last-dollar award covers the direct cost of tuition, up to the student’s full financial need as determined by the FAFSA, after all federal and state aid, including the Direct Student loan, has been applied. Must be an Ohio resident with a family income of $60,000 or less or be a federal Pell grant recipient. Amount varies. The Opportunity Scholarship does not cover room and board or books. FAFSA required.
Housing Grants
May be offered to students choosing to live in a university residence hall (not available for students living in apartments, theme houses, fraternity and sorority houses, or commuting.) Award amounts vary. Renewable if student remains in eligible university housing. Stacks on base merit award. FAFSA required.
Otterbein United Methodist Ministerial Grants $500 to $7,000
Awarded to Otterbein students whose parent or guardian is a United Methodist Minister and who has unmet financial need. Replaces all other Otterbein need-based aid. FAFSA Required.
Full Tuition Scholarships
Otterbein awards three full tuition scholarships through an essay competition. The value of this award replaces all other Otterbein aid. By invitation only. Must apply by December 15.
Battelle Half Tuition Scholarship
Competitive award for student leaders from Franklin and contiguous counties. Stacks on base merit award. Value of this award replaces all other Otterbein aid. By invitation only. Must apply by December 15.
International Baccalaureate Scholarship $1,000 – $5,000
Recognizes students participating in the IB program. Must pass two IB courses to qualify. Not eligible to students with talent, participation or Ammons Thomas awards. Must apply by December 15.
GoFund $2,500
Tải game bắn cá ăn xuOne-time award to support study abroad or internship experience for students applying and admitted as first year students majoring one of the following programs: Art History, English Literary Studies, Global Studies, History, Spanish/Latin American Studies, Religion, Philosophy, Political Science, or Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Students must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA and earn 60 credits at Otterbein. The Go Fund can be used during the junior or senior year. Students must be enrolled fulltime the semester preceding and following use of the Go Fund.
Cardinal Corps Leaders $1,500
Awarded to incoming first year students who lead weekly service programs. Interview required. Must apply by December 15.
Van Sant Fellows $1,500
Awarded to incoming first year students who act as ambassadors for leadership development on campus. Interview required. Must apply by December 15.
Otterbein LGBTQIA Scholarship and other endowed awards
Otterbein donors provide more than $2.5 million in annual scholarship support for Otterbein students. The Otterbein application serves as the application for Otterbein endowed scholarships that are awarded through the admission process. Must apply by December 15.
Yellow Ribbon Scholarship
Tải game bắn cá ăn xuOtterbein is proud to participate in the Yellow Ribbon GI Educational Enhancement Program which allows eligible veterans to attend Otterbein tuition free. Eligible Post 9/11 GI Bill veterans may also transfer their unused educational benefits to their spouses or children.
Talent and Participation Awards

All talent and participation awards require a separate audition, portfolio review, interview and/or essay. Students must be majors in the department they are awarded a talent award. Music Talent Awards $11,000 to $25,000
Awarded to Music majors through an audition process. Talent award is offered in lieu of other Otterbein awards or merit scholarships.
Young Artist Award $30,000
Competitively awarded to five Otterbein Music majors who excel during the audition process. Additional auditions and submissions required. Replaces all other Otterbein aid and scholarships. Must apply by December 15.
Music Participation Awards $3,000 to $6,000
Offered to non-Music majors who agree to participate in Otterbein ensembles and take required private lessons and courses. Audition required.
Athletic Band $1,000
For participants of Otterbein Athletic band. Must play woodwind, brass or percussion instrument, or be a member of color guard or twirler. Audition/tryout required.

Communication Abilities Awards $1,000 – $3,000
Designed to recognize outstanding students interested in communications careers. Must remain a major in the Communication department and a 3.0 gpa to renew.

For students completing a Teacher Academy Capstone project in high school and have an ACT minimum subscore of 20 in English and Math, or an SAT score of 500 in Evidenced-based Reading and 500 in Math. Interview and portfolio review required.
Grow Your Own Diversity Award $3,000 – $5,000
For students of color completing a Teacher Academy Capstone project in high school and have an ACT minimum subscore of 20 in English and Math, or an SAT score of 500 in Evidenced-based Reading and 500 in Math. Interview and portfolio review required.

Adult & Transfer Student Scholarships

Associate Degree Scholarship - $17,000

Students who have already earned their Associate’s Degree with a GPA of 2.75 or higher are eligible for our Associate Degree Scholarship.
